The Bosch B11CB50SSS 500 Series 24-inch freestanding counter depth bottom-freezer refrigerator is an excellent eco-friendly ADA compliant model that has a streamline form and is freestanding, making it an ideal option for a smaller modern kitchen. It offers 11 cu. ft. capacity in total (3.3 in the freezer), with 3 glass refrigerator shelves, a crisper drawer, reversible doors, a wine rack, 3 door bins, and electronic controls.

Bosch’s 500 series 24″ counter depth bottom freezer refrigerator is an excellent choice if energy-efficiency and space are your main concerns. With no interior ice maker or water dispenser, this model boasts a little more usable capacity than similarly sized models and uses less power. It is also sleek and attractive, and uses R600a as a coolant, meaning it is free from ozone-depleting greenhouse gases.

The Bosch B11CB50SSS features a HydroFresh drawer to keep fruits and vegetables fresh for twice as long by controlling humidity. The hidden door hinges present uninterrupted stainless steel luxury while providing sturdy support and smooth, easy opening. Electronic Controls allow for precise temperature management, and the open door alarm helps you save energy and your food.

With no ice maker or water dispenser, this model uses just 357 kWh/yr, making it more energy-efficient than most similarly sized refrigerators. This model also features an extra-deep BigBox frozen food drawer for practical storage of large frozen items like a giant birthday cake or stacks of pizza boxes.

Sustainability

Bosch 24-inch stainless steel and glass door refrigerators received the 2016 Energy Star® Emerging Technology Award in recognition of innovative technologies that meet rigorous performance criteria to reduce energy use and lower greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features or functionality.

Bosch also claims to recycle 92 percent of factory production waste, and makes a point of using the most efficient packaging and transportation processes to minimize environmental impact. Around 40 percent of Bosch’s patent applications relate to environmental protection and the careful use of resources.

Bosch vs. Smeg vs. Liebherr

Smeg’s 24-inch 50’s Retro Style refrigerator (View Price on Amazon) lacks a few of the more modern touches of the Bosch brand, such as the Electronic Controls and the open door alarm.

In terms of energy efficiency, the Bosch 500 series uses a little more energy than the impressively eco-friendly, high-performance Liebherr Monolith (View Price on Amazon). The Monolith also has a fantastic warranty, plus RoHS and REACH certifications, so this refrigerator is the better option.
