Overview
As with most water-based polishes, these polishes don’t seem to last quite as long as conventional solvent-based polish and can take a while to dry. Still, at just $10.99 for a 15 mL bottle, these are affordable, free from all the major toxic chemicals, and come in a range of fun colors, including various glitter polish shades (View Price on Amazon) that get their shimmer from mica rather than microplastics.
My top tip, clean your nails first, and paint them around two hours before you go to bed, using a hairdryer on low heat to speed up the drying process. Avoid exposing your hands to warm water for at least an hour after painting your nails, and avoiding immersing your hands in water for any length of time for at least four hours after painting your nails. Also, touch-ups are a little easier with water-based polish, but you’ll want to remove the polish completely within a week as it gets harder to remove as the polish dries out further and sticks to the nail.
