Made In supplied our team with the results of third-party testing which shows the pans are free of forever chemicals. This information took awhile to get our hands on, but once we were able to review the tests we elevated Made In to one of our top rated non-stick pans.
Since that time, Made In has begun participation in the Light Labs testing program, which enhances their transparency score. Light Labs testing results further demonstrate that Made In CeramiClad products are free from PFAS and forever chemicals. As we noted in the Made In review, one area we would like to see the brand improve is elimination of all PTFE products from their cookware lines. The existence of some SKUs with PTFE means we cannot recommend all Made In cookware.
Made In is one of a handful of cookware brands to publish third party test results on their company website. This is an act of transparency that should set the standard and that we applaud.
Made In uses sustainable packaging (though still uses some single-use plastics) and has an active cookware recycling program partnered with Habitat for Humanity Restores. At the time of purchase, customers have the option to opt in to send Made In their old cookware for recycling with Habitat for Humanity. Made In provides the FedEx shipping labels.
Because the Habitat Restore model is a retailer, and the old good are resold, it’s not clear what happens to cookware that isn’t to the standard needed for a resale.
Made In is also transparent about its sourcing practices, though it’s disappointing that the company continues to make PTFE cookware. However, with many SKUs made in the United States, and the rest made in Italy and France, Made In avails itself of jurisdictions that require workers are paid a living wage, and avoids the potential exploitative labor practices.
