The Honest Company has grown exponentially in its short existence and is making exciting new products with serious eco-credentials. Their hypoallergenic pads and pantyliners are made with 100 percent GOTS certified organic cotton and are wrapped in plant-based biopolymers. The only downside to these pads (and liners) is their cost, which is much higher than Natracare and Organyc. Hopefully, with time, the cost will reduce or bulk-buying options will be offered.

Overview

The Honest Company’s Honest Free Guarantee states that their pads are made without: rayon, polyester, fragrances, deodorants, artificial dyes, phthalates, chlorine or chlorine dioxide processing, ethanolamine, diethylhexyl adipate, or acetophenone.

The Honest Company is a company that gives back, with one exciting business endeavor including funding a research facility at Mount Sinai to help investigate how various chemicals affect human health. They are also a certified B Corp and are involved in advocacy work to help promote better regulation of personal care products in the U.S.

The Honest Company currently offers two levels of absorbency for their pads, which have wings and are designed to be ultra thin for a lightweight and comfortable feel. The plant-based biopolymer backsheet offers extra leak protection.

They also offer pantyliners that have edge-to-edge adhesive, meaning that they’re excellent at staying where you want them, unlike some other liners that have just a thin strip of adhesive and move around. The Honest Company offers pantyliners in a regular curved shape and as a liner that can be converted into a thong shape by folding over the edges.

The Honest Company vs. Natracare vs. Seventh Generation

The Honest Company is an exciting new player in this industry, with a clear commitment to eco-friendly, healthy product development. That said, their current range of menstrual products is limited, pricey, and not available in bulk, so Natracare remain in top place for pads and pantyliners. As an independent company with an otherwise solid track record for commitment to sustainability and health, they’re arguably now a better option than Seventh Generation (View Price on Amazon) and other contenders such as Bon, Lola, Cora, and L Organic.
