Overview

Tenoverten nail polish got its start in a nail salon in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood and each shade is named after a street in NYC. These 8-free nail polishes do not contain formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene, or triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) and are cruelty-free, vegan, and made in the USA.

What’s in Tenoverten nail polish?

A sample label for Tenoverten nail polish ingredients states the following: butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, nitrocellulose, adipic acid / neopentyl glycol / trimellitic anhydride copolymer, acetyl tributyl citrate, isopropyl alcohol, acrylates copolymer, stearalkonium bentonite, n-butyl alcohol, benzophenone-1, silica, alumina, trimethylpentanediyl dibenzoate, polyvinyl butyral, styrene / acrylates copolymer, polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, ethylene / va copolymer.

Polishes may contain: aluminum powder (ci 77000), iron oxides (ci 77499 / ci 77491), red 34 lake(ci 15880), red 6 lake (ci 15850), red 7 lake (ci 15850), yellow 5 lake (ci 19140), ferric ammonium ferrocyanide (ci 77510), mica (ci 77019), blue 1 (ci 42090), yellow 11 (ci 47000), titanium dioxide (ci 77891), violet 2 (ci 60725).

So, once again, there are a few potentially toxic chemicals in the mix, along with some plastic components, including n-butyl alcohol, benzophenone-1, trimethylpentanediyl dibenzoate, polyvinyl butyral, styrene / acrylates copolymer, polyethylene terephthalate, and polybutylene terephthalate.

Final thoughts on Tenoverten nail polish

In terms of toxicity, Tenoverten polish is better than most. It also seems to perform well, lasting longer and going on smoother than many other brands. There is also a wide range of colors to suit most tastes, and the polish is much more affordable than brands using a similar formula.
