Overview
The whole pillow is undyed, unbleached, cruelty-free and free from sweatshop labor as it is made start to finish on Denman Island, BC, at the Rawganique family homestead. These pillows feature wool from the family sheep and/or collected from their neighbor’s (who would otherwise discard the wool). The sheep are raised on free-range untreated organic pasture and the wool used for the pillow filling comes from pet sheep who need to be sheared once a year, making this product cruelty-free. The wool is washed 8 times in cold water and is then picked and carded by hand.
Because this pillow is custom-made, it is not returnable. So, be sure that this smaller than standard pillow will work for you before ordering. It is not machine washable and should instead be aired out in the sun as needed. Always use a pillow case with this pillow to keep it in good condition. Wool pillows are soft and resilient but can settle and flatten over time. They can be fluffed by putting them in the dryer on the coolest setting with a couple of new tennis balls.
This pillow is ideal for back sleepers, lumbar support, travel, or as a child’s pillow. It weighs approximately 19 ounces and is only available in this smaller size because of the limited supply of cruelty-free wool.
Rawganique Organic Wool Lumbar Support Pillow vs. Other Rawganique Wool Pillows
This wool pillow is one of the few cruelty-free options available and its only real rival is the cattail and wool pillow from the same company. The cattail pillow is more prone to flattening and is less resilient than the pure wool pillow, which may make it a great option for stomach sleepers and kids.
The Rawganique Organic Wool Bed Pillow uses wool from the USA, not from Rawganique’s family ‘pet’ sheep, so it cannot be considered cruelty-free.
