Parachute offer a range of bedding options and have made luxury sheets, pillows, comforters, and even towels and robes more affordable for the average consumer. Their down pillows have a 750 fill-power European down and are available in Soft, Medium, and Firm densities, in Standard and King sizes.
The pillows are made in Cincinnati, Ohio, come with a 3-year warranty, and are dry clean or machine washable on a cool setting and delicate cycle using mild detergent. They can also be put in the dryer on the low setting with dryer balls to re-fluff as necessary.

These pillows have a sateen cotton case with reinforced double-stitched piping seam. The pillows feature 85% down, and 15% down and feather fibers. The down is RDS-certified, and the pillows are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, meaning that they have been tested for harmful chemicals and synthetics. Unfortunately, the cotton used for the cases is not certified organic, although Parachute maintain that it is better to use long-staple Egyptian cotton rather than relying on a not-so-stringent organic label.
Their cotton products, presumably including the cases used for their down pillows, are manufactured in Portugal by artisans using long-staple Egyptian cotton. This type of cotton is grown along the Nile River Valley in Egypt, is handpicked (in contrast to saw or roller ginning) to preserve the fiber strength and length and is naturally stronger and softer than other forms of cotton due to the hot and dry climate of Nile River Valley’s climate. This may make it more durable than conventional cotton, which would add to its eco-friendliness.
Parachute vs. Scandia Home vs. CocoMat
Parachute offer affordable RDS-certified down pillows that meet basic Oeko-Tex Standard 100, making them a better option than Scandia Home pillows for most people, but possibly not as eco-friendly as CocoMat’s Sithon pillows.
Parachute don’t say how their down or feathers are processed, nor do they make any claims as to the environmental impact of the cotton they use for their cases, but the pillows are likely to be better for your health than the Scandia Home pillows that do not even have Oeko-Tex certification.
All in all, if you’re looking specifically for a down pillow, Parachute are probably second best to CocoMat. For a soft, truly eco-friendly pillow, however, go for a kapok pillow instead.
