Overview
Organic Weave’s Wool and Cotton Shag Rugs are a perfect mix of 100% organic cotton and 100% organic wool. The organic cotton has a natural sheen that adds both texture and luster to the rugs, which are made to measure and handcrafted by master weavers in India. Suitable for any room in the house, including nurseries and playrooms, these rugs are easy to maintain as wool is naturally resistant to stains and soiling.
Organic Weave’s organic wool and cotton rugs are made by skilled women artisans in a cooperative environment in rural India and are soft, cozy, and stylish. They use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified natural rubber (or latex) in the manufacture of these rugs to secure (or glue) the pile of the rug to the organic cotton canvas backing.

Delivery can take approximately 2 weeks, depending on the destination, for rugs already in stock or 8-12 weeks for custom orders handmade to order. All made-to-order items are non-refundable.
The sheer variety of styles available at Organic Weave is quite incredible, especially considering that most other manufacturers can barely scrape together one lackluster eco-friendly jute rug. They even offer organic wool and/or cotton personalized monogrammed rugs and word art rugs ideal for a kid’s bedroom or indulgent home office.
Organic Weave vs. Competitors
Organic Weave are easily the best in class for wool and cotton rugs with no one else close to rivalling them. They not only use GOTS certified organic wool and cotton, and FSC natural latex (where needed), they are GoodWeave certified to ensure no child labor is involved in the manufacture of their rugs, and they don’t use toxic chemicals in the manufacture of any of their products.
Organic Weave are clearly committed to sustainability, safety, and social fairness, and never sell rugs that don’t meet their high standards. While other companies produce the occasional eco-friendly and/or Fair Trade certified rug, if you’re looking for a top-quality wool and cotton shag rug from a company with a solid set of ethics, look to Organic Weave.
The wool and cotton rugs from Organic Weave are especially good if you’re looking for a rug with a bit more shine than a straight-up wool rug. Cotton and wool rugs are also lighter than the 100% organic wool rugs but may be less hardy and more susceptible to mold and mildew, especially as Organic Weave does not treat these rugs with chemicals.
All in all, Organic Weave are pretty much the only choice for an organic wool and organic cotton rug and are the best choice for eco-friendly wool-only or cotton-only rugs. Thankfully, the company has products with enough variety in colors, patterns, and styles to satisfy almost every demand. And, if you don’t find what you need, they are very open to custom orders.
