Unfortunately, the razor comes in some plastic packaging, but hopefully this is a one-time thing given how long this razor will last.
Merkur vs. Rockwell 6C vs. Rockwell 6S
With a slightly lower price point than the equivalent Rockwell razor, and a longer company history, the Merkur is a great option for a safety razor that could last you the rest of your life.
That said, this razor isn’t quite as versatile as the Rockwell 6C or 6S, so if you plan on sharing it or using it on different types of body hair, you may be better off with one of those two Rockwell models. These Rockwell models are also a great choice for beginner shavers who can adjust shave settings as they gain confidence and/or as hair gets thicker. The Rockwell 6C and 6S also come with 5 blades, while the Merkur only comes with one.

The Merkur does boast the longer handle, however, which can make shaving easier and more comfortable for some. All in all, there’s not a lot to choose between the Merkur and the Rockwell models, although we favor the Rockwells because of their greater flexibility, lifetime warranty, and genuine commitment to cutting out the waste from shaving.
