Overview

As it is a 3-in-1 product, this oil serves to condition the hair for shaving, support a close shave, and functions as an aftershave as well. The oil is clear, so you can more easily see where you’ve shaved and any missed patches.

In rare cases, vetiver oil can cause irritation upon multiple, additive exposure, and chamomile extract can enhance the absorption of other chemicals. Although you likely won’t need a separate aftershave if using this oil, exercise caution if applying any other products immediately after using creams and oils containing chamomile for shaving.

This product contains extra virgin quality base oils (olive, coconut and red palm oils) to hydrate, restore and feed the skin. The oil helps support an easier and closer shave which reduces the risk of ingrown hairs, cuts and nicks. Unlike some shaving creams, this oil makes it easy to shape beards or moustaches because the hair is clearly visible.

The oil is free from synthetic chemicals, petroleum derivatives, preservatives and chemical scents. It is 100% natural, organic, and vegan and comes in a recyclable glass bottle as the company eschews the use of plastics. Amanprana also use sustainably sourced and recyclable packaging, including organic paper, glues and inks. They also promote awareness and raise funds for the Save the Sea campaign to reduce overfishing and support the oceans; they encourage employees to cycle to work; and even their offices are sustainable and ecologically sound, constructed using FSC wood and heated and powered with renewable energy.

Amanprana vs. Badger vs. Qet Botanicals

There’s not a lot to choose between Amanprana Razoli Shaving Oil, Badger Pre-Shave Oil, and Qet Botanicals Fresh Body Oil for Shaving, Showering & Massage. All three get top ratings from EWG and all three companies are environmentally and socially engaged.

Amanprana Razoli Shaving Oil contains natural organic ingredients and poses little to no risk of environmental toxicity or harm to human health. It offers a smooth shave and can be used on both face and body without clogging pores or causing irritation. The oil is vegan-friendly and comes in a recyclable glass bottle as the company eschews the use of plastics.

Amanprana also use sustainably sourced and recyclable packaging, including organic paper, glues and inks, and they promote awareness and raise funds for the Save the Sea campaign to reduce overfishing and support the oceans. The company also encourages employees to cycle to work, and even their offices are sustainable and ecologically sound, constructed using FSC wood and heated and powered with renewable energy.

Badger Pre-Shave Oil also has a top safety rating from EWG, is certified organic, cruelty-free and vegan, with Leaping Bunny and PETA ‘Caring Consumer’ seals of approval and offers a great shave (View Price on Amazon). The company is a B Corp and products are made in the USA using Fair Trade and organic ingredients where possible. Badger have an impressive array of energy- and water-saving initiatives and environmental practices at their offices and manufacturing facilities, and their manufacturing processes do not create any toxic waste that could get into the local water system. They also package products in recyclable and reusable tins and use mostly recycled and recyclable packaging, with products shipped UPS carbon neutral.

QET’s oil is a slightly more versatile choice than Amanprana and Badger as it can be used for dry brushing, shaving, showering, and massage (View Price on Amazon). It is also very concentrated, with no water, synthetic chemicals, or fillers. Qēt Botanicals use minimal packaging and recyclable containers, never test on animals, use no animal parts or by-products, and create formulas using organic and sustainably wild harvested ingredients certified by Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) and recognized by the National Organic Program for the USDA. All ingredients are 100% natural, nontoxic, and always fully disclosed and all products are ranked in the safest category of Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep® database.

The company has received numerous awards for their products and for their sustainable packaging, and they offer recyclable tree-free labels made of stone, print all materials on 100% post-consumer recycled paper, offset carbon footprint from shipping and even use renewable energy powered web hosting.

Any one of these three shaving oils would be an excellent eco-friendly choice. If you plan on using Badger Shave Soap (View Price on Amazon), this pairs nicely with their pre-shave oil. If you’re planning on using oil alone, Amanprana’s oil may be the best option. And, if versatility is what you’re after, QET’s oil is a top choice.
