The Sol Organics Sateen Sheets have a 300 thread count and are silky smooth with a luminous sheen, luster and excellent drape. Thanks to that tight weave, they are soft and cozy and especially good for winter.
John and his wife first gave the Sol Organics Sateen Bed Sheets a test run during a very cold winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where LeafScore is based. They were impressed with the softness, overall durability, and warmth of the sheets.
Over time, with each subsequent wash, the Sol Organics sheets have become even softer. The sateen sheets were cozy enough for winter combined with a heavy wool comforter. John says, “We loved getting under the covers with the wind and snow blowing outside in the Tetons.”
Sustainability at Sol Organics
Sol Organics has been around since 2010. The company set out with the commendable goal of producing eco-friendly textiles using organic cotton while ensuring equality for all employees. Founders, Vishal Naithani and Sachin Chauhan, wanted to “bring ethical integrity to a marketplace saturated with inequality, abuse and dirty cotton.”
After a lot of searching, the company found an amazing factory in India that meets strict social and environmental criteria.
This factory had everything the founders wanted for their products: “a transparent supply chain from farm to factory to fabric, using only non-GMO, certified raw 100% organic cotton, manufactured in a FLO-certified factory”. These days, Sol Organics also works with select partners in India that invest in the health and well-being of women and children and are committed to eradicating child labor. All of Sol Organics’ employees, regardless of where they live, make a living wage.
Sol Organics also continues to make its products using 100% organic long-staple cotton, grown from non-GMO cottonseeds. The company has a longstanding commitment to better farming practices that reduce the carbon footprint of raw materials and helps to conserve and protect drinking water while keeping everyone safe from harmful chemicals.
Sol Organics also ships its sheets plastic-free in a reusable fabric bag made with the same material as the sheets.
Safe, non-toxic sheets
Sol Organics sheets are made with organic cotton that is grown and processed without:
- Pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers
- Toxic dyes, including NPE/NP, Organotins, PFC & Antimony
- Industrial solvents, irradiation, or genetic engineering
- Formaldehyde, endocrine disruptors and phthalates.
Basically, if you’re sleeping on Sol Organics sheets, you can trust that they’re non-toxic and don’t harm people or planet.
Sol Organics shipping and returns
In the contiguous U.S., Sol Organics ships all orders over $99 free. The company also tries to ship most orders same-day, which means you can get your new bedding very fast through Sol Organics!
The downside of this fast delivery is that you only have one hour after ordering in which you can cancel the order for a full refund.
Note that as with most (but not all!) bedding companies, Sol Organics doesn’t accept returns on bedding that has been used, unless there’s a manufacturing defect. If you haven’t opened your sheet packaging but don’t like the feel of the fabric when it arrives, you can submit a return request within 30 days of order receipt. You have to pay the return shipping cost though.
Because Sol Organics ships its sheets in reusable fabric bags, you can easily get a sense of the sheet color and feel without having to pull out the sheets (which means you can’t return them).
Sol Organics Sateen Sheets – Care and maintenance
It’s best to wash the sateen sheets before first use as this helps to make them a little softer. Some customers note that it takes a few washes to really soften the sheets up, though we found them plenty soft right from the get-go.
To wash, use cold water and a gentle cycle. Don’t use bleach or harsh detergents. Line dry if you can or tumble dry on low heat only. Remove right away from the dryer to minimize wrinkling (common for cotton sheets!). If necessary, you can iron these sheets, though that will reduce their lifespan.
Any downsides to Sol Organics Sateen Sheets?
If you have a particularly deep mattress plus topper combo, you may find that these sheets are too small for your bedroom set-up. With a 15-inch pocket on the fitted sheet and a flat sheet that runs a little small, you could end up with ill-fitting bedding where you can’t tuck in the flat sheet or use the fitted sheet without removing the mattress topper.
Our advice is to measure up first and compare current sheets you love to the measurements at Sol Organics’ website.
Some customers also note that the sheets take a while to soften up. Again, this wasn’t our experience. A few washes should help if you like your sheets softer than these initially feel.

Final thoughts on Sol Organics Sateen Sheets
Sol Organics are a bit of a newcomer in this category, going up against the decades of experience and strong reputations of Coyuchi, Rawganique,
They also offer more colors than Savvy Rest, PlushBeds, and Sleep & Beyond and have more Fair Trade clout.
Still, if you’re looking for fairly inexpensive organic cotton sheets in a variety of colors, Sol Organics are a good option, and the company has some good eco-credentials for these products.
