Delilah Home Hemp Sheets look and feel luxurious. They are a great gift for family and friends and would be a lovely choice for a wedding present.
These sheets come in White, Natural, Mineral Green, and Light Gray, all made with low-impact dyes and no toxic chemicals.
The Twin XL size fitted sheet fits up to a 15-inch mattress, while the larger sizes can accommodate a 17-inch deep mattress. These sheets also run very large, so if you typically find bedding too small for your mattress, duvet, and pillows, the Delilah Home Hemp Sheets are likely a good choice for your bedding.
What we love about Delilah Home Hemp Sheets
My Delilah Home Hemp Sheets arrived in a simple, sturdy, simply branded and minimalist cardboard box. Inside there was no plastic packaging or extraneous paper or card. The ribbon was a nice touch and easily reusable for a variety of purposes.
It was obvious right away how soft and silky these hemp sheets feel. They have a lovely weight to them, thanks to the 180 gsm GOTS organic hemp fabric. This is thicker than most hemp sheets and likely makes these sheets more durable.
If you’ve never felt hemp fabric before, think of a thicker, heavier, and silkier linen. The material has texture but still feels soft.
I chose the Mineral Green sheets, which are almost a light mint color and pair really nicely with a range of other hues. I love how they look with my Walnut color PACT Cool Air sheets, for instance, but they also work with my dark blue Cozy Earth bamboo linen bedding.
Hemp is amazing. As a crop, it requires very little water and no artificial fertilizers, pesticides, or other chemicals. In fact, hemp helps to remediate polluted land and helps to tackle soil erosion too! Growing hemp requires less than a third of the land and a quarter of the water needed to grow the equivalent in cotton fiber.
As a material, hemp lends itself to a variety of uses. Once upon a time, Ford even made a car using hemp!
As a textile for bedding, hemp is:
- Breathable
- Moisture-wicking
- Thermoregulating
- Naturally anti-odor and antimicrobial
- Easy to clean
- Long-lasting.
There are many reasons to love hemp, and if you’re looking to add a little texture, luxury, and coziness to your bedroom, hemp sheets are a great choice.
How Delilah Home Hemp Sheets perform
My Delilah Home hemp sheets were a dream during some hot and sticky summer nights. They helped to keep me cool and dry even though I’m a hot sleeper.
Now we’re into some colder fall days, these sheets feel cozy and comfortable still. I appreciate that they don’t feel chilly upon my return to bed after getting up several times a night to help my toddler get back to sleep.
I also appreciate that these sheets are machine washable and quick to dry. It’s best to use cold water and a gentle cycle, then dry the sheets on low or on the line.
I was surprised at how little lint there was the first few times I washed the sheets, knowing that hemp tends to produce a lot of lint.
Now I’ve put these sheets through the laundry a few times, I am starting to notice some loose fibers. These are easy to pick free, and none seem to be the result of actual tearing or wear, just a little shedding from natural fibers.
Downsides to Delilah Home Hemp Sheets
Aside from the cost (which is similar for all hemp sheets), the only real downside I’ve found with Delilah Home Hemp Sheets is that they run very large. When I first put the fitted sheet on my bed, I had to check to see if it was a King size sent by mistake.
It wasn’t, but there were several inches of excess material that can make the bed look pretty untidy.
I asked Michael if this was normal and he said the company deliberately makes them that way to ensure they fit everyone’s mattress set-up.
While I can tuck most of the excess material over the edges and under my mattress, it pretty quickly squirms loose, especially if my toddler is co-sleeping/bouncing around on the bed/using the sheets to climb onto the bed.
So far, I haven’t seen any tears or snags, but I’m very wary that loose sheets are more likely to catch on sharp nails, jewelry, and so on.
The pillowcases also run large, which is great if you have King size pillows but can mean your pillows migrate a bit if they’re Standard or Queen size like mine.
Again, the top sheet runs large, meaning it can drape on the floor if the bedding goes just a little askew overnight.
All in all, these sheets look and feel great if you’re fond of a more relaxed, slightly rumpled bedding aesthetic. If you’re looking for neat bedding with smooth, crisp lines, these are not the sheets for you.
Sustainability at Delilah Home
Delilah Home’s CEO, Michael Twer, is Chair of the Organic Trade Association Fiber Council. It’s not surprising then that these hemp sheets are a rare entity in that they’re actually certified organic by GOTS. Most hemp is grown organically but doesn’t have certification as such.
Delilah Home is also a 1% for the Planet member and donates to Operation Warm. Overall, the company donates 10% of profits to local charities.
In addition to its charitable endeavors and sustainable materials and manufacturing, Delilah Home ships its sheets in sustainable packaging with no plastics.
Final thoughts on Delilah Home Hemp Sheets
I love my Delilah Home Hemp Sheets and they are in frequent rotation for our bedding, especially now the cooler months have set in. I do wish the sheets fit a little more snug as I worry about tangles and tears.
If the sheets manage to resist snags, I can see them lasting for many years, far beyond most cotton sheets.
I also appreciate that even though these sheets are GOTS certified, they’re surprisingly affordable for good quality, thick hemp sheets. Their closest competitor – the hemp sheets from Avocado – are nearly twice as expensive.
