What we like about Coyuchi Jersey Cotton Sheets
Coyuchi uses heavyweight jersey cotton for these sheets, which makes them durable while still being breathable. That means you get all the coziness of flannel without the same risk of overheating.
We also like that the pillowcases have an envelope style enclosure (most Coyuchi pillowcases don’t). This means these sheets work well for keeping overstuffed or especially floppy pillows in place.
The Jersey Sheet Set includes:
- 1 fitted sheet
- 1 flat sheet
- 2 envelope pillowcases (1 pillowcase for twin sizes).
The sheets carry GOTS and MadeSafe certification, are machine washable, and ship in a reusable matching fabric bag.
Downsides to Coyuchi Jersey Cotton Sheets
The main downside to Coyuchi’s sheets is their price. These sheets cost more than similar quality sheets with similar or better green certifications, such as those from PACT (view jersey sheets on PACT). That said, Coyuchi has been around for a lot longer than PACT and has a solid reputation for quality and durability (so does PACT).
Coyuchi also only offers its jersey sheets in three colors: Alpine White, Charcoal Heather, and Undyed. It also only offers a limited range of sizes, with no Cali King or split sizes available.
Finally, the jersey fitted sheet only has a 15-inch pocket, with full elastic around the bottom. This means some folks might find the sheet doesn’t fit over a mattress plus topper, with the sides riding up and bunching.
Sustainability at Coyuchi
Coyuchi was founded more than 20 years ago in a small coastal Northern California town and was the first company to make organic bedding mainstream in the US. The company has long produced a line of home textiles rooted in nature, including its signature bedding made from 100% certified organic cotton.
Coyuchi produces its goods using a zero-waste water recycling method and is committed to sustainable practices. This includes ensuring that all Coyuchi’s supply chain partners are fully compliant with the strictest environmental and social regulations.
All partners in Europe, for example, follow the REACH chemical standards to reduce chemical risk to human health and the environment. Coyuchi also adheres to the Restricted Substances List (RSL) of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) and tries to source from as many Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)-certified suppliers as possible.
Coyuchi is also a member of 1% for the Planet, and is involved in the Fibershed program which supports sustainability and social enterprise within the textile sector.
Coyuchi’s packaging is also sustainable, with no single-use plastics. All sheets come in a reusable fabric bag to match the sheets. The sheets are also MadeSafe certified, meaning the list of raw materials and processes has gone through the MadeSafe audit process and found to be non-toxic.
Final thoughts on Coyuchi Organic Cotton Jersey Sheets
For cozy sheets that are breathable, sustainable, and shipped plastic-free, Coyuchi’s Jersey Cotton Sheets are a great choice. That said, PACT’s organic cotton jersey sheets (view on PACT) are also excellent, come in a wider range of colors, and are also Fair Trade certified and significantly more affordable.
PACT’s sheets also come with a 60-day, no-questions-asked trial period, so my advice is to give PACT a try first, unless you’re dead-set on Coyuchi’s jersey sheets.
Not in the market for jersey cotton sheets? Coyuchi also offers a wide range of other styles of bedding also made with organic cotton (view on Nordstrom).
