What we like about the Savvy Rest Shredded Latex Body Pillow
The Savvy Rest Shredded Latex Body Pillow is a very supportive, bouncy pillow that is purposely overstuffed to let you adjust the fill to your needs. It is also Savvy Rest’s most affordable body pillow.
Because this pillow is stuffed with latex ‘noodles’ it is very responsive and doesn’t lose its loft, unlike down and kapok pillows. This makes it a really good choice if you’re looking for serious neck, back, arm, or leg support.
The encasement is made with super soft organic cotton flannel and has a robust brass zipper for easy fill adjustments. This pillow also comes with an organic cotton sateen pillowcase made with unbleached, natural color cotton. You can remove and wash both the encasement and pillowcase (use cold water and line dry both to prevent shrinkage).
Savvy Rest offers this body pillow in two widths (17- and 20-inch) and it is nice and long at 52-inches. That gives most folks enough pillow to comfortably support an arm and leg.
As a shorter person with shorter arms to match, I love that Savvy Rest offers a narrower version of this body pillow. A 20-inch body pillow is too wide for comfort for me and takes up to much bed space, but a 17-inch width is perfect.

As well as loving the pillow design, we also love that Savvy Rest donates new pillows to domestic violence shelters through its Safe Sleep Pillows Program. When the folks using these shelters find more permanent housing, they get to take their pillow with them.
Downsides to the Savvy Rest Shredded Latex Body Pillow
The main downside to the Savvy Rest body pillow is that the company doesn’t accept returns, unless there’s a manufacturing defect.
Savvy Rest says it doesn’t do returns because it would have to use chemicals to sanitize products for resale (technically, bedding can’t legally be resold by a company in the U.S. anyway).
While we understand the reasoning behind this policy, it’s notable that many other bedding companies now offer trial periods and no-questions-asked returns on bedding. Any returns that are opened and used are donated by the company to charity or are recycled as needed, so it’s a shame Savvy Rest doesn’t have a similarly generous policy.
Savvy Rest offers several body pillows, some made with shredded latex, some with wool, some with both latex and wool, and one with kapok.
The shredded latex body pillow is not as soft as the kapok body pillow, making it a good choice if you’re looking for firmer, more responsive support. The same goes for the wool and latex body pillows, which also offer firmer support.
If you want a softer pillow your arms, legs, or pregnant belly can sink into, the kapok body pillow is likely a better bet.

Other downsides of this pillow are:
- The cost – latex is pricey, and there’s a lot of it in this overstuffed pillow!
- The weight – latex is heavy and… see above.
Note, though, that this is Savvy Rest’s most affordable body pillow. The company also sells pillows made with wool and latex, kapok, and wool alone, all of which are more expensive that the shredded latex body pillow.
Sustainability at Savvy Rest
Savvy Rest is one of our favorite companies at Leaf Score as it is:
- Employee owned (as of 2012)
- A longstanding Benefit Corporation (B Corp)
- Environmentally engaged.
Employee-owned companies tend to have better working conditions, greater customer satisfaction, and more sustainable business practices.
Savvy Rest also offsets its annual carbon emissions (per an estimate) through its membership of the Carbon Fund. And, like Leaf Score, the company donates to American Forests to help restore and maintain threatened forest ecosystems across the U.S. and worldwide.
Savvy Rest also does its best to ship products sustainably. Unfortunately, to protect the pillows, the company still uses some plastic. This is minimal, though, and can be recycled wherever soft plastic recycling facilities exist (or through TerraCycle).
Final thoughts on Savvy Rest Shredded Latex Body Pillow
If you’re looking for a bouncy, supportive body pillow similar to memory foam but more breathable, non-toxic, and sustainable, the Shredded Latex Body Pillow from Savvy Rest is a great choice. It’s well credentialled, tried, tested, and loved by many customers over many years, and is available in two sizes.
We love that you can remove or add stuffing as needed, and that you can clean the inner case if necessary. We also like that you can bundle this body pillow with the body pillow waterproof protector for much less than it would cost to buy both products separately. The protector is also made with organic cotton and a layer of waterproofing that is vinyl-free and PFAS-free (I suspect this is polyurethane, but Savvy Rest is yet to confirm).
