Savvy Rest’s Wool and Latex Body Pillow is a great choice for pregnancy and for general use to support proper spinal alignment. It pairs the bouncy, responsive support of shredded latex with the springy but firm support of organic wool.
Overall, this body pillow feels firmer than the Savvy Rest Kapok Body Pillow and the Wool Body Pillow but softer than the Shredded Latex Body Pillow.
What we like about the Savvy Rest Wool and Latex Body Pillow
This pillow comes in an organic cotton encasement with sturdy zipper for easy adjustment of the fill. The cotton is unbleached and undyed, with a soft flannel finish. This pillow also comes with a washable organic cotton pillowcase (cold water handwash and line dry only).
You can choose between two widths for the pillow:
- 17-inch
- 20-inch.
Both pillows are 52-inches long.
Savvy Rest operates out of GOTS certified facilities in the U.S. and the wool and latex in this pillow are certified to GOTS standard. The latex is a mixture of Talalay and Dunlop, both of which are eco-INSTITUT certified as free from any hazardous chemicals and off-gassing.
This pillow is a fantastic choice for use during pregnancy. You can start out with a good amount of fill and then gradually reduce the fill to better accommodate a growing baby-bump. The wool and latex are breathable, comfortable, and supportive and won’t cause you to overheat.
This pillow is also a top choice if you’re looking to support spinal alignment. You can adjust the top end of the pillow to have more fill and the bottom end with less, for perfectly tailored support for your arm and leg respectively.
In addition to liking the pillow design and materials, we love that Savvy Rest is owned by its employees. Employee-owned companies tend to provide better working conditions for staff and a better customer service experience. From what we’ve heard, this seems to hold true for Savvy Rest, with many happy customers over many years.
Downsides to the Savvy Rest Wool-Latex Body Pillow
Savvy Rest’s Wool-Latex Body Pillow can be very supportive when fully stuffed but isn’t quite as bouncy and responsive as the Savvy Rest Latex Body Pillow (see our review). It’s also not quite as soft and squishy as the Savvy Rest Kapok Body Pillow (see our review). If you’re looking for a super soft pillow, this isn’t it. Similarly, if you want firmer support, you may find this pillow too soft.
Basically, this is a somewhat soft and somewhat supportive pillow that works for many but not all situations!
As with all Savvy Rest products, this pillow is not returnable. The good news, though, is that it is adjustable, meaning you’re likely to find a fill level that works for you, even if it takes some experimentation.
Another downside to this pillow is that it’s not vegan, given the wool component. The wool is GOTS certified, though, which means there’s some assurance over animal welfare.
Finally, this pillow is pricey. That makes sense given how much stuffing goes into it, the quality of craftsmanship, and the eco certifications, but it definitely puts the pillow out of reach for many folks who could benefit from such a product. For a less costly body pillow, check out Savvy Rest’s Kapok version (see our review), especially if you favor softer pillows overall.
Sustainability at Savvy Rest
Savvy Rest uses certified organic cotton, wool, and latex for this pillow and its other products. The latex is also eco-INSTITUT certified, meaning no off-gassing and no hazardous chemicals. The company operates out of GOTS facilities and is a B Corp and Green America Gold Business.
Savvy Rest estimates its annual carbon emissions and offsets the equivalent through the Carbon Fund. It also donates to American Forests to support reforestation efforts, and the company donates pillows to domestic violence shelters in the U.S.
We would love to see Savvy Rest start using more sustainable packaging materials for its pillows, which it currently ships in single-use plastic and cardboard for protection.
Final thoughts on the Savvy Rest Wool and Latex Body Pillow
If you’re looking for a supportive, natural, eco-friendly body pillow, the Wool and Latex Body Pillow from Savvy Rest is a great choice.
Ideal for pregnancy and beyond, as well as for general use, this pillow feels soft but isn’t as squishy as kapok, meaning it offers meaningful support for spinal alignment. We love that this pillow is fully adjustable too and has good green credentials.
