Best Organic Bed Sheets – In-Depth Reviews
Below, you’ll find our rankings for the best eco-friendly bed sheets. We believe every item on this list is a smart buy.
Note that the best choice for your situation might not be the sheets we ranked the highest, so pay attention to the differentiating features between them instead of taking our rankings at face value.
PlushBeds are another eco-minded company making fantastically sustainable and cozy organic cotton sheets in the USA.
The PlushBeds Organic Cotton Sateen Sheet Set is available in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and Cali King sizes. These sheets have a 300 thread count, are made with GOTS certified organic Egyptian cotton and are made without dyes or chemicals. They carry OEKO-TEX, USDA Organic, and GreenGuard Gold certification and PlushBeds are a Green America Certified Business too.
Each set includes one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two pillowcases (one pillowcase on Twin & Twin XL). The fitted sheet is sewn with elastic around the whole perimeter for easy fitting and has 13″ deep pockets, so it should fit most mattresses. The sheets are made with a French seam for durability and come in biodegradable packaging made with hemp and corn film. Members of our team sleep on these sheets and love them. They are super soft and maintain their quality after many washes. Consumers who buy a PlushBed mattress often receive a free set of organic sheets, depending on the special PlushBed has running.
These sheets are machine washable on a warm or cold cycle and can be dried low and removed promptly to minimize wrinkling. Sheets can be returned in new, unopened condition for an exchange or refund minus round trip shipping costs. Once opened, sheets are no longer returnable.
PlushBeds are committed to providing “products you can feel good about, from start to finish” and to keeping their products free of harmful chemicals. They even offer an annual $1,000 scholarship to a student seeking an “eco-degree”. PlushBeds is also our top pick for eco-friendly wool comforters.

Sol Organics was established in 2010 with the aim of producing eco-friendly textiles using organic cotton while ensuring equality for all employees. They found an amazing factory in India that carried certifications including FLO, GOTS, Oeko Tex and Fair Trade, and they use 100% organic long-staple cotton, grown from non-GMO cottonseeds, with a commitment to better farming practices that reduce their carbon footprint, conserve and protect drinking water, and keep everyone safe from harmful chemicals.
Sol Organics are a bit of a newcomer in this category, going up against the decades of experience and strong reputations of Holy Lamb Organics, Coyuchi, and Rawganique. Still, if you’re looking for fairly inexpensive organic cotton sheets in a variety of colors, Sol Organics are a good option.
Looma are a newcomer in the bedding industry but are one to watch and one to buy! They use exclusively non-GMO, GOTS certified organic long staple cotton sourced directly from certified Fairtrade small family farms in the Himalayan basin of Northern India. The farmers are paid a fair price, use natural methods of pest and weed control (with no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides), cultivate land by hand and use rainwater to irrigate the fields. This all means a healthier crop, greater biodiversity, and 1,526,674 days of drinking water saved, according to Looma. The company claims that this cotton requires 90% less water to cultivate, creates 50% less CO2 in production, and is fully hypoallergenic, with all farmers certified 100% Organic by GOTS.
Because the cotton is sourced using direct trade, 75,311 miles of driving emissions are avoided, and the company is assured that there is no child labor or unsafe factory conditions involved in the production of their sheets. Fairtrade certification also means that extra payments to farmers enable community development projects like building schools, health clinics, roads or investments in technology, all decided by the farmers, according to the needs of the community.
Looma also boasts supporting 702,479 square feet of pesticide free land, and 18,025,270 hours of LED bulb energy saved. These sheets are also certified vegan by PETA, with no animal testing or animal products, and just plant-based, non-toxic dyes. Looma also extend their sustainable and charitable efforts to support the education of girls – one of the mainstays of the global sustainability effort. For every foundation set sold, Looma sponsors one month of tuition for a student at the Hanuman Girls’ School in rural Rajasthan, India. So far, that translates to 5,332 girls sponsored and sent to school.
As for the sheets themselves, Looma offers a bed sheet set comprising one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and two pillowcases. The fitted sheets have an 18-inch pocket depth and are available from twin XL to California Kind and split king. Looma also offer a duvet set, comprising one duvet cover and two pillow shams.
Looma cotton is unique, with extremely long and strong fibers that are also wispy, making for a weave that is softer, smoother, and more durable than conventional cotton sheets. The sheets continue to soften with each wash, but are strong enough to not pill. These sheets have a traditional Sateen weave, allowing greater breathability and temperature regulation. So, Looma sheets are a great choice for keeping you cool in the summer and cozy in the winter.
Coyuchi’s organic linen bed sheets are a close runner-up in a gaggle of products earning 5/5 leaves. Why? Because linen sheets are just a delight to sleep on and Coyuchi have been industry leaders in organic bedding in the US for more than two decades.
Coyuchi work hard to create beautiful, sustainable sheets, duvets, pillows, towels, robes, and more, and they produce their goods using a zero-waste water recycling method and are generally committed to sustainable practices.
Coyuchi offer a range of organic sheets, but the linen are my favorite. These Organic Relaxed Linen Sheets are GOTS certified and are made in Portugal with linen woven from French flax, organically grown and processed using water-saving traditional methods. Yarns are dyed using low-impact dyes for color that’s kind to the planet and to sensitive skin.
As with all flax sheets, these will get softer with each wash and are durable. They will help you stay cool and dry in summer and cozy and warm in winter. The sheet set includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet and set of 2 pillowcases (Twin sheet set only includes 1 pillowcase). The pillowcases and flat sheet feature a decorative stitch.
Want to get extra cozy? Look no further than Coyuchi 100% Organic Cotton Jersey Sheets. An excellent choice for spring, fall, and winter, these jersey sheets are soft, warm, and as snuggle-worthy as your favorite t-shirt. Available undyed and in Alpine White, and Gray Heather, sheets come in Twin, Full, Queen, King, and Extra Large sizes.
The jersey fitted sheet has a deep 15 inch pocket and full elastic around the bottom. The Jersey Sheet Set includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and 2 envelope pillowcases (1 pillowcase for twin sizes).
The sheets carry GOTS certification and are machine washable on the gentle or delicate cycle with like colors, with cold water and a natural, plant-based laundry detergent. They should be line dried or dried on a low dryer setting and removed promptly. Wool dryer balls help to naturally soften cotton and reduce drying time.
Coyuchi are a great choice for the eco-friendly bedroom, and arguably the best option for organic cotton and linen sheets, whatever your style. Coyuchi are a company long committed to environmental sustainability and product safety, easily rivaling Rawganique and going head to head with Holy Lamb Organics for top spot in this category.
Coyuchi also offer:

If you’re looking for USA-made top quality eco-friendly, organic, non-toxic bedding, check out Rawganique’s organic cotton sheets. Rawganique’s organic cotton sheets are soft, smooth, and silky and are increasingly used by eco hotels because of their quality. If you like traditional cotton sheets, these are the ones for you.
These sheets are free from sweatshop labor, pesticides, fire retardants, biocides, stain repellents, wrinkle-proofing chemicals, dioxins, and formaldehyde. They are made in a sustainable, ethical way and are available in unbleached and undyed natural colors. They use only biodegradable fiber-reactive dyes, with absolutely no azo dyes.
For a number of years, Rawganique only offered Euro-Luxury organic cotton sheets made in Europe under strict environmental conditions, despite wanting to make their sheets in the US. After figuring out how to do this ethically and sustainably, while achieving the quality for which they are known, Rawganique once again offer organic cotton sheets manufactured in a US mill.
If you like a little texture in your sheets, go for Rawganique’s linen or hemp sheets instead of cotton. These organic linen sheets are unbleached, undyed, and completely natural. They have a finely textured, crisp, and smooth feel, like traditional ultra-fine linens are supposed to.
Rawganique recommend that anyone new to linens buy a pillowcase and sleep on it, wash it, and then buy a set once you realize how much you love it. Their linen sheets are available as Blvd Hausmann Organic French Linen Sheets, which are relaxed, meaning they never need ironing. These sheets are made at the Rawganique Atelier in Europe and are hypoallergenic. Other sheets include Parisian Organic French Linen individual sheets that are dye-free, extra-fine, and available in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and Cal King. These are also made in Europe.
Pillowcases and shams in Standard, Queen, and King sizes are also available in French Linen, as are French Linen Duvet Covers in Twin, Full/Queen, and King sizes. Or, make life easy by buying a Parisian Organic French Linen Sheet Set. If you’re looking to add a little pattern to your bed sheets, try the Bespoke Organic French Linen Pillowcases, available in two classic stripe patterns for Standard, Queen, and King.
Rawganique’s organic hemp sheets include pillowcases, shams, fitted sheets, flat sheets, and duvet covers. These sheets are incredibly rare, with Rawganique the only manufacturer I’ve found making genuine, eco-friendly hemp bed sheets.
Rawganique grow, weave, and sew organic hemp sheets in-house, meaning they know for a fact that they are non-toxic. Hemp sheets feel and look very similar to linen with a textured, lush, cozy feel. Like with linen sheets, it’s a good idea to buy a hemp pillowcase and go from there.
If you’re looking for a little color, try the Hemp Chambray Bed Sheets. These are made in-house at the Rawganique Atelier in Europe from organically grown European hemp and organic cotton chambray. They are available undyed, unbleached, in natural, and color-grown sage and earth brown.
Rawganique also offer handmade custom pillowcases in organic cotton, linen, and hemp, made at their Denman Island Atelier in Canada.
To care for your sheets, avoid high heat for hemp and linen. Instead, line dry to keep them in good shape.
Savvy Rest Organic Cotton Sheet Sets are made with fine, long-staple cotton and come in a natural cream color. All Savvy Rest sheet sets are GOTS certified, aside from the Split-Queen and Split-King sheets, which are made with organic cotton but are not presently GOTS certified.
Top sheets and pillowcases are hemmed with a narrow pleat and the sheets are smooth, soft, and have a 300 thread count. As great as these sheets are, though, be aware that Savvy Rest have a strict policy of not accepting returns on sheets, claiming that this would require them to spray their products with chemicals, so they could resell them.
Savvy Rest don’t offer individual sheets, just these sets, in addition to separate organic duvet covers (View Price on Savvy Rest) and matching organic shams (View Price on Savvy Rest) made with 200 thread count organic cotton and available in white and a striped pattern. Check out their:
- Twin/TwinXL: 1 flat, 1 fitted, and 1 Standard pillowcase

- Queen: 1 flat, 1 fitted, and 2 Queen pillowcases

Savvy Rest are a certified B Corporation, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and good working conditions, and they donate a portion of profits to American Forests, the oldest nonprofit conservation organization in the US, which helps help restore and maintain threatened forest ecosystems across the country and around the globe. Savvy Rest is also a member of the Carbon Fund, through which they support reforestation along the Mississippi River as a way to fight climate change.

Hello, thank you for your research and this list. Do you have any recommendations for cooling or moisture wicking sheets? Thanks
Hi Zahra,
Your best bet for moisture wicking sheets that help with temperature regulation are those made with hemp or wool. Definitely avoid synthetic sheets as these will increase sweating and body temperature. It’s also worth looking at your mattress and/or the pillowtop layer. Materials such as polyurethane foam in mattresses can make for a sweaty sleep, whereas natural latex, kapok, hemp, and wool are great for temperature regulation. Thank you so much for these lists! Listening to Darin Olein’s podcast with Jeff Garner made me want to do some looking into better non-toxic products. I am currently in the market for new bedding, your lists will certainly be a great starting point, as they’re incredibly informative and helpful! Very much appreciated!
